Rapid Software Update Procedure

 

In case The Dash Desktop Updater  is unsuccessful an alternative update procedure, called Rapid Update, can be performed by following the instructions below.

Before starting you should make sure that both The Dash and The Charger is sufficiently charged. Learn more on how to charge The Dash.

The rapid update procedure entails updating one side at a time, so it is important to follow the instructions carefully and to ensure each stage proceeds exactly as described.

 

 

Update The Right Dash

  1. Insert only The Right Dash into The Charger and make sure it is correctly seated on the MagSnap.
  2. Connect The Charger to your computer via USB. The Dash will then mount as a ~3.75GB USB device.
  3. Download The Right Dash update file and copy it onto The Dash.*
  4. After copying is completed, safely eject The Dash from your computer and disconnect The Charger from USB.
  5. The Right Dash will then start to update within a few moments.
  6. The LightGuide on The Right Dash will start blinking in a blue color as the update starts and continue to do so while it proceeds. This takes about 5 minutes.
  7. If the flashing LED pattern does not start, the update has not started. To resolve this, remove The Right Dash from The Charger for 10 seconds and reinsert it in The Charger. The Dash refreshes and the update will start.
  8. When The Right Dash returns to breathing the update is finished.

*Some operating systems may add extensions such as: "-2", "_2" or "(2)" to a downloaded file if a file with the same name already exists. Make sure the Right Dash update file does not have such an extension added, as this will not allow the update to start.

The correct filename is: fwthedash_br.bra

 

Update The Left Dash

  1. Insert only The Left Dash into The Charger and make sure it is correctly seated on the MagSnap.
  2. Connect The Charger to your computer via USB.
  3. To mount The Left Dash, press the pinhole button on The Charger for 2 seconds. (The pinhole button is located on the opposite side of the USB port).
  4. The Left Dash will then mount as a 4MB USB device. If it does not mount, remove The Left Dash from The Charger and reinsert it after a few moments.
  5. Download The Left Dash update file and copy it onto The Dash.*
  6. The Left Dash is very slow writing files to its file system, so this process can take about 5 minutes, please be patient. During this process your computer may give misleading feedback as it is not used to a file system like this. Please ignore any feedback from your computer at this point.
  7. After copying is completed, safely eject The Dash from your computer and disconnect The Charger from USB.
  8. The Left Dash will then start to update within a few moments.
  9. The LightGuide on The Left Dash will start blinking in a blue color as the update starts and continue to do so while it proceeds. This takes about 5 minutes.

Confirmation of a successful update

Upon inserting The Dash in your ears immediately after the update is finished, The Dash will confirm a successful update with the message: "The update was successful".

Alternatively you can do the following to confirm that your update has been completed:

  • Make sure both Dash is correctly seated on the MagSnap.
  • Reconnect The Charger to computer via USB. The Dash will then mount as a 3.75GB USB device.
  • Double-click the update.bragi.com.html file.

You will then be redirected to the Bragi update page and here it will confirm that your Dash is now updated with the latest software.
